UN Human Rights Chief to visit Mexico from 5-9 April

GENEVA (29 March 2019) – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet is to undertake a five-day official visit to Mexico at the invitation of the Government starting on 5 April.

While in Mexico, she is due to meet President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and hold discussions with Government ministers, other leading officials as well as legislators, the President of the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor-General and the President of the National Commission of Human Rights.

She will also have meetings with civil society representatives, as well as migrants, female human rights defenders, victims of violations and abuses, and relatives of people who have disappeared.

The High Commissioner will conclude her visit with a press conference on 9 April at 13:00, at the Centro Cultural de España in Mexico City.
