USAGE BY COUNTRY (OFFICIAL LANGUAGE)

Osaka dialect is used in Japan.

BACKGROUND

As for tones, Osaka dialect is obviously different from Standard Japanese based on Tokyo dialect. However, this character cannot be shown in the writing system, because it is lack of tone marks.

As for grammar, Osaka dialect is generally similar with Standard Japanese, while some parts are still different. For example, the negative suffix in Standard Japanese is "nai", while that in Osaka dialectis "hen". As a result, "not know" can be translated into "wakaranai" in Standard Japanese, while "wakarahen" in Osaka dialect.
