Southwestern and central parts of the Taymyr Peninsula. 3 main villages of Nganasans are Ust-Avam, Volochanka and Novaya. Some of Nganasans live in the cities of Taymyr.

BACKGROUND

Nganasan language is a language of the Nganasan people. The Nganasan language belongs to the northern Samoyedic group of the Uralic language family.

There are two main dialects in the Nganasan language:

  • the Avam dialect
  • Vadeyev dialect  

The difference between the dialects is not very significant.
