BACKGROUND

Dhanuk people mainly inhabit Tarai districts like Saptari, Siraha and Dhanusha. They are also found in parts of India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. They have different clans namely Mandal, Chaudhary, Mahato, Sada, Dhanuk, Dhankar, DC (Dhanuk Chhetri) and others. Dhanuks's mother tongue is called 'Magahi', which belongs to Indo-European language family. They also speak Maithali and Bhojpuri.
