At its 42nd meeting on 26 September 2014 (the last meeting of the Council’s 27th session), the Human Rights Council decided to postpone the appointment decision for the seven special procedures mandate holders which were due to be appointed (list below) to an organizational meeting of the Council to be held any time before the end of the 20th session of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review (27 October to 7 November 2014). The organizational meeting is scheduled for 6 November 2014. In the meantime, the current mandate holders have been extended until then.

Updated information on the selection and appointment procedure [English | French]
Should the appointee to the mandate of Special Rapporteur on the rights of persons with disabilities, or any other mandate be a person with a disability, the United Nations would ensure reasonable accommodation for the mandate holder in the implementation of his/her mandate. This may include provisions for the mandate holder to be accompanied as appropriate during official travels by a personal assistant, and/or for additional conference services (such as sign language interpretation) in respect of meetings in which the mandate holder participates
