The collaboration demonstrates how UN partnerships with tech companies can effectively promote human rights, in this case pairing the authority and credibility of UN Human Rights with the vast reach and resources of Salesforce.

Salesforce is an American cloud-based software company headquartered in San Francisco, California. Salesforce’s Trailhead is an online learning experience platform that helps its customers to gain new skills and hone existing ones. It works with assessments that demonstrate user’s skills, and badges and points that illustrate their progress.

With the support of UN Human Rights, Salesforce has developed a new trailhead that focuses on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It aims to make human rights knowledge more accessible by explaining the importance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It also seeks to learn how we can all – as individuals, businesses, and States – work together to protect human rights.

This trailhead is divided into three modules and explores among other things why the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a milestone document, what are human rights and what are States’ obligations regarding human rights. It also gives an overview of the national and international systems protecting human rights.

A second trailhead, focusing on the business community’s responsibility to respect human rights and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights is under consideration for development next year.
