Focus

Food security

Summary

The report calls for the strengthening of environmental and human rights regimes to protect human health, as well as the natural resources that are necessary to support sustainable food systems.

Implementing the right to adequate food and health requires proactive measures to eliminate harmful pesticides. The solution requires a holistic approach to the right to adequate food. This includes phasing out dangerous pesticides and enforcing regulation grounded on a human rights approach. The solution also involves a transition towards sustainable agricultural practices. This transition must take into account the challenges of resource scarcity and climate change, and ultimately contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
