Summary

In the report, the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons, Claudia Mahler provides information on her visit to Nigeria, which she conducted from 29 August to 9 September 2022. The objective of the visit was to identify good practices and gaps in the implementation of existing laws and policies relating to the rights of older persons. On the basis of information collected prior to, during and after the visit, the Independent Expert analyses the challenges faced by older persons, paying particular attention to those living in vulnerable situations. She provides recommendations on how to further advance the promotion and protection of the rights of older persons.
