Summary

The Working Group on discrimination against women and girls conducted a visit to Kyrgyzstan from 4 to 15 April 2022. In the present report, the Working Group assesses the situation of women’s and girls’ human rights, noting achievements, challenges, and pathways to progress. The assessment is made in the context of the State’s current legal, institutional and policy framework for promoting gender equality and the participation and empowerment of women in family, economic, social, political and public life, paying particular attention to women who experience intersecting forms of discrimination. The Working Group also makes recommendations for further progress in eliminating discrimination and promoting gender equality.
