Summary

In her report, the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of human rights by persons with albinism presents her findings on her official visit to Brazil, which she conducted from 28 October to 8 November 2019. They include existing challenges regarding stigma and discrimination, the right to life and the rights to health, education, employment, an adequate standard of living and access to justice. While recognizing the commendable steps taken by the Government since her visit, she recommends further specific steps that the authorities and relevant stakeholders can take to ensure a sustainable and effective approach to protecting and promoting the human rights of persons with albinism in Brazil.
