Summary

The Secretariat has the honour to transmit to the Human Rights Council the report of the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons, Rosa Kornfeld-Matte, on her country visit to China from 25 November to 3 December 2019. The main objective of the visit was to identify both best practices and gaps in the implementation of existing laws relating to the promotion and protection of the human rights of older persons. In her report following the mission, the Independent Expert assesses, to the extent possible, the implementation of existing international instruments, laws and policies pertaining to the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons in China. In line with her tenure’s priorities, the Independent Expert specifically examines the area of automation, assistive and robotics technology.
