Summary

The Special Rapporteur on the rights of persons with disabilities, Catalina Devandas-Aguilar, visited Kuwait from 26 November to 5 December 2018. In her report, she highlights the progress made by the State in promoting and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities in its legislation, policies and programmes in the light of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which it ratified in 2013. She also emphasizes gaps and areas for improvement, and makes recommendations with a view to strengthening the Government’s efforts to transform society and provide inclusive responses and solutions for all persons with disabilities in Kuwait by 2035, the date by which the country has committed to achieving its vision for inclusive development.
