Background

In its resolution 31/7 the Human Rights Council requested the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to prepare a report on the protection of the rights of the child in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and to present it to the Human Rights Council at its thirty-fourth session.

Summary

The report takes stock of the ways in which the 2030 Agenda has the potential to support the realization of children's rights, and presents an overview of relevant lessons from implementing the Millennium Development Goals. It further identifies key obligations, considerations and measures needed for the protection of children's rights in all aspects of the 2030 Agenda implementation process.
