Call for inputs: Country Visit to Vietnam

Purpose: To inform the country visit preparation and report to be presented to the Human Rights Council in September 2024

Background

The Human Rights Council, in its resolution 33/14 of 29 September 2016, established the mandate of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to development. Mr. Surya Deva was appointed Special Rapporteur for a period of three years and took up his functions on 1 May 2023.

From 6 to 15 November 2023, the Special Rapporteur on the right to development will conduct a country visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the Government.

Objectives

The Special Rapporteur seeks to assess the advancement of the right to development in Vietnam and to identify existing challenges with a view to formulating recommendations to the Government and other stakeholders who are working towards implementing the Sustainable Development Goals and promoting the realisation of the right to development.

Key questions and types of inputs sought

The Special Rapporteur wishes to receive inputs by responding to the following questionnaire to assist him in conducting the country visit and making recommendation to the Government in a report to be presented to the Human Rights Council in September 2024.
