GENEVA (16 May 2014) – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay will visit Georgia from 18 to 22 May 2014, to discuss the human rights situation in the country.

In Tbilisi, Pillay plans to meet with the President, the Prime Minister and Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Internal Affairs and other Government officials. She will also hold discussions with the Chairman of the Supreme Court, the Chairman of the Parliament, and Georgia’s Public Defender as well as with civil society representatives, the UN country team and members of the international community.

During her visit, she will also visit a settlement for internally displaced people as well as the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL).

At the end of her visit, on Wednesday 21 May at 5:00 p.m. (local time), the High Commissioner will hold a press conference at the Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel in Tbilisi.
