Expert meeting on building partnerships to counter anti-migrant narratives, 11 May 2017
Messages of xenophobia targeting migrants are increasingly becoming part of political and public discussions, creating a climate of fear and intolerance. On 11 May 2017, a group of experts and activists met under the leadership of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to explore ways to counter and change anti-migrant and xenophobic narratives. Participants included representatives from academia and research institutes, community and faith leaders, representatives of cities, city networks and local authorities, journalists and media professionals, business and the private sector, social media campaign groups, filmmakers and creative artists, nongovernmental organisations, regional organisations and UN agencies.
