In its resolution 31/7 the Human Rights Council requested the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to prepare a report on the protection of the rights of the child in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and to present it to the Human Rights Council at its thirty-fourth session.
The report takes stock of the ways in which the 2030 Agenda has the potential to support the realization of children's rights, and presents an overview of relevant lessons from implementing the Millennium Development Goals. It further identifies key obligations, considerations and measures needed for the protection of children's rights in all aspects of the 2030 Agenda implementation process.
For the preparation of the report a note verbale requesting inputs was sent and written contributions were received from 13 States and 32 civil society organizations, as well as United Nations agencies and other international entities.
