Mr. Puvan Selvanathan, former member of the Working Group on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises

Mr. Puvan Selvanathan (MBA and DBA in Corporate Strategy and Sustainability) is Head, Office of the International Trade Centre (a joint agency of the WTO and UN) in New York. Formerly the Head of Food and Agriculture at the UN Global Compact Office, he led the creation of the UNGC's Food & Agriculture Business (FAB) Principles.

An Architect by profession, he designed townships, innovated ICT for Development PPPs in Local Governments, and co-designed Mozambique’s E-Government Strategy. He led the Malaysian chapter of WBCSD and has advised in both public and private sectors on ethics, good governance and the green economy. He was involved for over 10 years in developing the Malaysian business community’s understanding of corporate responsibility. Puvan was formerly Group Chief Sustainability Officer at Sime Darby, a Malaysian conglomerate and the world's largest producer of sustainable palm oil. Puvan is a member of the Stakeholder Council of the ISEAL Alliance, the global association for sustainability standards.
