Version in Hebrew

Geneva (5th February 2015): The Independent Commission of Inquiry on the 2014 Gaza Conflict is extending its deadline by a fortnight to 15 February 2015 for additional submissions from the public.

The Commissioners would like to thank all the victims, witnesses and groups who have already generously assisted their work so far and reassure them of their continued commitment to this task.

In the light of Professor Schabas's decision to step aside, the two remaining Commissioners, Mary McGowan Davis and Doudou Diene, intend to redouble their efforts to fulfill the Commission's mandate. They will report to the Human Rights Council as scheduled in March 2015.

Justice Davis, who has assumed the role of chair, and Dr. Diene, would also like to express their gratitude to Professor Schabas for giving his time and expertise most generously for many months and for his dedication in the role of chair.
