The Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of assembly and of association has been working closely with the Human Rights Committee on the drafting of the upcoming General Comment 37 on Article 21 on the Right to Freedom of Assembly. The mandate has made multiple written contributions and has participated in a range of workshops and retreats with the members of the Human Rights Committee and other stakeholders.

The Special Rapporteur is optimistic, that the General Comment will be a landmark document for the defense of peaceful assembly and protesters around the globe. The Special Rapporteur highly appreciates the exemplary cooperation with the Human Rights Committee and keeps advocating for the protection of all facets of the right to assembly, including in the digital sphere.
