The Inter-Committee Meeting
From 2008 to 2011, the Inter-Committee Meeting convened twice annually in conjunction with the Annual Meetings of Chairpersons of the human rights treaty bodies to, inter alia, make recommendations for the improvement and harmonization of working methods of the human rights treaty bodies and other issues requested by ACM.
The first Inter-Committee Meeting, which included the chairpersons and two additional members from each of the Committees, was held in Geneva in 2002. Harmonization of working methods among Committees was the main focus of the first Inter-Committee Meeting. The increased level of participation of each of the committees allowed for more detailed discussion of recommendations on issues relating to working methods than had been possible in the annual meeting of chairpersons because of time constraints.
