The information series on sexual and reproductive health and rights, first released in 2015 and updated in 2020, synthesizes the human rights standards pertaining to nine key sexual and reproductive health and rights topics : adolescents, abortion, maternal mortality and morbidity, HIV, women human rights defenders, harmful practices, gender-based violence, contraception, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex persons. Each information sheet brings together the work of special procedures mandate holders, treaty bodies and other relevant developments in international and regional human rights fora, as it relates to the relevant subject. The aim of the information sheets is to raise awareness about human rights standards and obligations in these areas, in order to support efforts of Governments, civil society, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to uphold and promote sexual and reproductive health and rights.
