New look to UN Human Rights homepage means easier access to human rights information

30 November 2015

Welcome to the new homepage of the UN Human Rights Office. You are not seeing things. There IS a new look. The newly redesigned front page presents a more balanced, and streamlined layout making it easier and more user-friendly.

The page provides greater accessibility for persons with disabilities who use screen-reading software or keyboard to navigate the Web. It uses responsive design, which means that the home page will adapt to your screen size, whether you are on a laptop, tablet or mobile device.

And it is much easier to find the key pages you are looking for through the new navigation bar. For example, you can quickly access human rights information by country from anywhere on the website via the new navigation bar. Similarly you are just one click away from human rights mechanism pages, such as the Universal Periodic Review, the Human Rights Council or Treaty Bodies.

"This change on the home page is just the first step in improving the user experience for OHCHR,” said Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Flavia Pansieri. “The streamlined page makes it easier for the public to find the human rights information that they need. Above all I hope that this new home page will allow a broader public to get clear information about the work of the office and become inspired to engage for the protection of human rights for all, everywhere."
