This Guide for Civil Society provides a brief description of funding sources, grants and fellowships administered by or with the participation of OHCHR. The purpose of the Guide is to provide guidance to prospective applicants interested in these funds and programmes to further contribute to the promotion of human rights in their own countries and worldwide. The funds and grants administered by OHCHR include the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture; United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery; United Nations Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Populations; Special Fund of the Optional Protocol to the United Nations Convention against Torture; and Assisting Communities Together Project. OHCHR also has a designated role in United Nations Democracy Fund also addressed in this chapter. The Guide also provides an overview of OHCHR Fellowship Programmes.
