UN women’s rights experts issue findings

GENEVA (12 March 2018) – The UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women has published its findings on the following countries which it examined during its session from 19 February to 9 March in Geneva: Chile, Fiji, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Marshall Islands, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Suriname.

The findings cover how the respective State is doing with regard to women’s rights, detailing positive developments, main areas of concern, and recommendations for action. The findings, officially known as concluding observations, can be found here.

The Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women is composed of 23 international independent experts, who monitor implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, ratified to date by 189 States.

The Committee will next meet from 2 to 20 July 2018 in Geneva to review Australia, Cook Islands, Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Mexico, New Zealand, State of Palestine and Turkmenistan. More information may be found here.
