UN women’s rights experts issue findings on Burkina Faso, Singapore, Paraguay, Nauru, Israel, Kuwait, Kenya, Oman, Norway, DPRK, Monaco and Guatemala

GENEVA (20 November 2017) – The UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women has published its findings on the following countries which it examined during its 23 October to 17 November in Geneva: Burkina Faso, Singapore, Paraguay, Nauru, Israel, Kuwait, Kenya, Oman, Norway, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Monaco and Guatemala.

The findings cover how the respective State is doing with regard to women’s rights, detailing positive developments, main areas of concern, and recommendations for action.  The finding, officially known as concluding observations, can be found here:

The Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women is composed of 23 international independent experts, who monitor implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, ratified to date by Rights of the Child, ratified to date by 189 States.

The Committee will next meet from 19 February to 9 March 2018 in Geneva  to review Chile, Fiji, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Marshall Islands, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia and Suriname.
