NORTHEAST ASIAN COUNTRIES TO MEET IN SUBREGIONAL WORKSHOP
ON HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION


Representatives of the Governments of China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan, Mongolia and the Republic of Korea will meet in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 1 to 4 December to explore strategies and components for the development and enhancement of national capacities for human rights education in schools.

The delegates will be attending the Subregional Training Workshop on Human Rights Education in Northeast Asia. The meeting will also see the participation of representatives of the three organizations active in the field of human rights education in schools, namely the Asia-Pacific Resource Centre for Human Rights Education, HURIGHTS OSAKA and the Asia-Pacific Network for International Education and Values Education.

Representatives of United Nations regional and subregional organizations, as well as non-governmental organizations active in the subregion in the field of human rights education in schools will also attend.

The workshop is part of the technical cooperation programme of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, which benefits 40 countries worldwide, and springs from the Framework for Regional Technical Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region.
