CHAIRMAN OF HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION CONDEMNS KILLING OF GUATEMALA BISHOP

The Chairman of the fifty-fourth session of the Commission on Human Rights, Jacob Selebi of South Africa, condemns in the strongest terms the violent assassination of Monsignor Juan Gerardi Conedera, Auxiliary Bishop of Guatemala?s Diocese and Human Rights Coordinator of the Archbishopric of Guatemala. The Chairman expressed his deep condolences to the family of Monsignor Gerardi and to all his colleagues, who have been witnesses and have worked with him in the promotion and implementation of human rights in his country.
