Summary

In the present report, the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of human rights by persons with albinism commends the positive and exemplary initiatives taken by the Government of South Africa. She highlights existing challenges regarding the right to life, the right to security of person, stigma and discrimination, health, education, employment and representation. She recommends concrete measures that the Government and relevant stakeholders can take to sustain gains that have been made, including protection and prevention measures, and measures to end stigma and discrimination, as well as measures to remove all other identified barriers to the enjoyment of human rights by persons with albinism.
