Summary

The Special Rapporteur, Hilal Elver, visited Argentina from 12 to 21 September 2018 in the midst of an economic and financial crisis that is having a direct impact on people.

The report analyses the impact of the crisis on the right to food. It reiterates the importance of protecting and promoting family farming as a means of achieving a balance between the prevailing agro-industrial system and the agro-ecological production system.

The report also encourages the Government to prioritize the design and implementation of effective policies and reforms with the participation of all relevant segments of society in order to guarantee the right to adequate food.
