Background

In the framework of the International Decade for People of African Descent, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights will organize the Regional Meeting for Asia Pacific on the International Decade for People of African Descent in January 2024.^[1]

In preparation for the Regional Meeting, the Office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) invites all interested stakeholders, including Member States, UN agencies, national human rights institutions, equality bodies and civil society representatives, particularly people of African descent from the region, as well as experts and academics to provide information on the human rights situation of Africans and people of African descent living in the Asia Pacific region.

Objective

This call for inputs aims to compile information on the human rights situation of Africans and people of African descent living in the Asia Pacific region.

Key questions and types of input/comments sought

All interested stakeholders are invited to provide information on the human rights situation of Africans and people of African descent living in the Asia Pacific region by responding to the questionnaire.

Such information, and any queries, should be sent electronically to the Anti-Racial Discrimination Section of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights at: ohchr-decadepadgeneva@un.org by 10 January 2024.

Inputs received will inform the preparation of the Regional Meeting for Asia Pacific on the International Decade for People of African Descent.
