H.E. Ms. Vesna BATISTIĆ KOS (Croatia), Vice-President and Rapporteur

Vesna Batistić Kos has been serving as Permanent Representative of Croatia to the United Nations Office at Geneva since August 2017. Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Batistić Kos had been serving as Assistant Minister, Directorate General for Multilateral Affairs and Global Issues, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs since 2012.  In 2011, she was Director General, Directorate General for Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.  In 2010, she served as Head of the Department for International Development Cooperation and then as Head of the International Organizations and Human Rights Department at the Ministry. From December 2008 to September 2009, she served as Charge d’affaires a.i. at the Permanent Representation of Croatia to the Council of Europe, after being Deputy Permanent Representative there from 2003 to 2008.

H.E. Mr. Harald ASPELUND (Iceland), Vice-President

Harald Aspelund has been serving as Permanent Representative of Iceland to the United Nations Office at Geneva since November 2017. Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Aspelund served as Director General for Administration and Consular Affairs at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland from 2013 to 2017. He was a Director at the Directorate for External Trade and Economic Affairs at the Ministry from 2009 to 2013, and Director of Human Resources at the Ministry from 2008 to 2009. He also served as Minister Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Iceland to the United Nations in New York from 2004 to 2008, and as Minister Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Iceland to the United Nations in Geneva from 2000 to 2004.

H.E. Ms. Nazhat Shameem KHAN (Fiji), Vice-President

Nazhat Shameem Khan has been serving as Permanent Representative of Fiji to the United Nations Office at Geneva since May 2014. Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Khan had been working since 2009 as a legal practitioner and legal consultant, planning and conducting training programmes for judges, magistrates and lawyers on advocacy, legal and judicial skills, human rights and the justice system, gender competence and cultural awareness in the courts. Ms. Khan became Fiji’s first female prosecutor in 1984 and the first female Director of Public Prosecutions in Fiji in 1994.  She was Puisne Judge, High Court of Fiji from 1999 to 2009.

H.E. Mr. Carlos Mario FORADORI (Argentina), Vice-President

Carlos Mario Foradori has been serving as Permanent Representative of Argentina to the United Nations Office at Geneva since May 2018. Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Foradori had been serving as Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina and G-20 Sherpa since December 2015. A career diplomat, Mr. Foradori has served as Ambassador of Argentina in Zimbabwe and Guatemala. He was a Political Counsellor at the Embassy of Argentina in Washington for many years. He has also served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Director of the Department of Federal and Electoral Affairs, Director General of Foreign Trade Strategies, Chief of Cabinet of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations, and member of the Cabinet of the Vice-Minister.
