Nasir Ahmad ANDISHA (Afghanistan), Vice-President

Nasir Ahmad Andisha has been serving as Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to the United Nations Office at Geneva since April 2019.  Prior to this appointment, Mr. Andisha served as Deputy Foreign Minister of Afghanistan since September 2015, and Ambassador of Afghanistan to Australia, and concurrently to New Zealand and Fiji, from August 2011 to August 2015.  He was posted at the Mission of Afghanistan to the UN in New York from May to August 2008, and previously served as Director General of the Fifth Political Department (America and Australia Affairs), Chairman of the Dubai Process (Afghanistan-Pakistan Joint Working Group on Law Enforcement, Counter Narcotics and Custom Cooperation) from 2010 to 2011, and Director of Multilateral Relations in the Economic Cooperation Division from 2006 to 2007.  He started his career as a field officer for the International Committee of the Red Cross from 1999 to 2001.

Socorro FLORES LIERA (Mexico), Vice-President

María del Socorro Flores Liera has been serving as Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations Office at Geneva since November 2017.  Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Flores Liera was Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico since September 2015.  In the Foreign Ministry, she has served as Director General of American Regional Organizations and Mechanisms, Director General for Global Issues, Chief Advisor to the Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, and Director of International Law in the Legal Advisor's Office.

Ambassador Flores Liera has been posted to the Permanent Missions of Mexico to the UN in New York and to the International Organizations based in Vienna, and has served as Head of the Office of the International Criminal Court to the UN in 2006 and 2007.

Ms. Flores Liera joined the Mexican Foreign Service in 1992 and has held the rank of ambassador since 2012.

Juraj PODHORSKY (Slovakia), Vice-President

Juraj Podhorsky has been serving as Permanent Representative of Slovakia to the United Nations Office at Geneva since July 2017.  Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Podhorsky served as the Director of the Office of the Minister at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia since 2014.  In 2014, he was also the Director General for European Affairs at the Ministry.

He served as Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Finland from 2010 to 2014.  Before his appointment to Finland, Mr. Podhorsky was the Director of the Security Policy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2007 to 2010.  He also served as the Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2006 to 2007 and in the Permanent Delegation of the Slovak Republic to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Brussels.  Mr. Podhorsky joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993.

Yackoley Kokou JOHNSON (Togo), Vice-President and Rapporteur

Yackoley Kokou Johnson has been serving as Permanent Representative of Togo to the United Nations Office at Geneva since August 2016.  Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Johnson had been serving as Ambassador of Togo to Great Britain since 2014.  In 2012 and 2013, he was a member of the Togo team at the Security Council.  He was Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Action and National Solidarity from 2008 to 2011, and concurrently was President of the National Committee for the Adoption of Children.  Mr. Johnson was a Judicial Counsellor at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Promotion of Women and Protection of Children from 2002 to 2011.  He started his career from 2001 to 2011 as a lecturer, including at the University of Kara and the Faculty of Law at the University of Lomé.
